The Polish Press Agency’s new English-language portal, called ‘The First News’, launched on Thursday.
The portal will cover politics, economy, culture, science, history and sport, and The First News’ editorial office emphasized that the service would deliver “accurate, interesting and dynamic news from in and around Poland.”
“As we have come to realize in recent years, Poland is often portrayed in foreign media not entirely accurately, and we want to gently modify this picture,” the president of the Polish Press Agency said in an interview.
As he went on to say, the aim of the website’s creators is to “reach specific opinion-forming circles” with the help of social media.
The name of the portal is taken from the title of an essay by the Polish writer Joseph Conrad, in which the author describes the day on which he received the news of the outbreak of World War One.
