The Netflix streaming platform announced in 2017 that it will produce the series “Witcher” based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. The date of the premiere is still unknown, but it was confirmed that production will start in November 2018. The series is co-produced with the Polish studio Platige Image.

Tomasz Bagiński, one of the co-producers of the series said in the interview with Polish media news website Wirtualne Media that the whole team producing the series wants to emphasize the Slavic, Eastern European environment, which was present in the original books. “We do not want it to be a typical American series,” he said. “It will be a great proposal not only of fans of the Witcher but also to viewers all over the world,” he added. “There will be a lot of surprises, the series will evoke discussions for sure,” the producer said.
