On Friday, seven locomotives owned by the Lithuanian Railways “played” the Polish anthem in Vilnius to commemorate the 100th anniversary of regaining independence by Poland.
The unique whistle orchestra was led by the concertmaster of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra in Vilnius, Zbigniew Lewicki.
“I am a ‘Lithuanian Pole’ and this holiday is very important for me. I’m glad that I can greet Poland in such an unusual way,” the artist said.
“We wanted to show that we stand together with Polish citizens. This year, we commemorate the centenary of regaining independence in Lithuania too,” the representative of the Lithuanian Railways in Poland told the tvp.info website.
In February 2018, the “locomotive orchestra” played the Lithuanian anthem on the country’s independence centenary.
