Poland’s Natalia Sadowska took her second career gold medal after winning the final match in the World Draughts Championship in the Latvian capital of Riga.
On Friday she faced off with draughts veteran and 16-time world draughts champion, the Belarusian-born Latvian player Zoja Golubeva. Sadowska came out on top after a nine-round match with a final score of 58:50.
The 27-year-old Polish player’s previous world championship success came in 2016 in Karpacz, southwestern Poland. In 2015 she won the silver after conceding the final to Golubeva at the world championships in Wuhan, eastern China, and last year she just missed out on a place on the podium with fourth place.
