50th anniversary of artistic work of Andrzej Seweryn

Actor is famous for his roles in movies that made a big part of film industry history like Andrzej Wajda’s Promised Land and Man of Iron, to name few.

Andrzej Seweryn is an actor, filmmaker, lecturer and theatre director. He worked with Steven Spielberg, Andrzej Wajda, Agnieszka Holland and other famous movie directors.

He will celebrate his jubilee on 6th of December on the stage. Andrzej Seweryn will draw viewers into Shakespeare's world. He will speak Monologues of the masterpieces of genius from Stratford arranged in a fascinating story about literature, culture, but also a man seen in moments of triumph, despair and defeat.

The performance is a singular lesson of the theater. The actor will portray the characters of Henry V, Hamlet, Falstaff, Richard III but also Ariel, Lady Macbeth, Juliet... He will bring out the beauty and the enduring wisdom of Shakespeare's poetry.

Seweryn’s career started in 1968 at Ateneum Theatre. But it's the cooperation with Television Theatre that gave him popularity in Poland. He portrayed a boy in Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, Iwan in Dostoevsky's The Possessed or Don Calos, the main character in Schiller’s play and many more.

In 1980’s he migrated to France where he became a respected actor and eventually a member of Comedie Francaise, as a first Pole and second foreign actor in this French national theatre history.

He gained international recognition after his roles in Andrzej Wajda’s productions, The Promised Land, which was nominated for for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1975, and The Man of Iron that won the Palme d'Or and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival, it was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
