Acclaimed Polish basketball player Marcin Gortat is organising the 8th edition of the Polish Heritage Day in the NBA basketball league.
“American people are getting more accustomed to Polish culture. I am glad that I was able to organise this event,” Gortat, who plays the center for the Los Angeles Clippers, told Polish public radio.
For the first time, the Polish Heritage Day will be organised in Los Angeles. It will be held after the Los Angeles Clippers game against Orlando Magic, one of Gortat’s former clubs.
Among the participants of the event are Polish singer Edyta Górniak, Polish actress Izabela Miko and Polish boxer Andrzej Fonfara. The constant element of all Polish Heritage Days in the NBA are white and red flags, a performance of Polish cheerleaders from Gdynia, northern Poland, as well as the presence of Polish veterans.
The co-organisers of the event are the Polish National Foundation, the MG13 foundation founded by Marcin Gortat, and the Polish consulate in Los Angeles. A short video message from the Polish president Andrzej Duda will be aired during the event.
The official Facebook profile of NBA published a video, presenting Gortat offering his teammates traditional Polish dishes.
