Koszalin bids farewell to girls dead in escape room fire

The funeral of five girls who died in a fire of escape room in Koszalin, northern Poland, takes place on Thursday in this city.

The memorial service is organised by the city authorities. It commenced at 11 am local time with a holy mass in St. Casimir church in Koszalin. At 2 pm, the funeral procession will march to the cemetery. All girls will be laid to rest next to each other

“We are after meetings with the families of deceased, we appeal to respect their privacy and allow them to bid their farewell in a dignified way,” a representative of the Koszalin City Hall said.

Only members of the family and closest friends of deceased will be able to enter the church, but organisers will set a screen outside the building of the temple.

The authorities of the city of Koszalin announced that they will organise free-of-charge buses to transport all participants to the cemetery.

Five teenage girls 20 died in a fire of an escape room in Koszalin last Friday. An inspection conducted at the scene has revealed multiple safety infringements. A person reportedly responsible has been charged with manslaughter.

After the accident, the authorities conducted inspections in all escape rooms in Poland.
