Kraków Airport expects to handle 7.9 million passengers in 2019. This would be a record number in the airport history.
The Kraków Airport predicts that in 2019 it will see an 18 percent increase in the number of passengers.
"It's nice to break records, but the most important thing is that our passengers are satisfied with the level of service at Kraków Airport," said Radosław Włoszek, president of the Kraków-Balice International Airport.
The forecasts show a total number of 7.9 million passengers to use the airport this year. In 2018 it was 6.8 million. There will be an increase in flight connections too. LOT Polish Airlines has announced that 28 new ones will be inaugurated at the Kraków Airport in 2019.
"This will be a very significant increase in the presence of LOT in the Kraków Airport. We want the airport to be a beneficiary of LOT's dynamic development, but also, we want to benefit from the good situation in Kraków and the Małopolska province," said Adrian Kubicki, LOT spokesperson.
The president of the airport said that to respond the increasing demand from passengers and airlines some major investments need to be. Among the most important ones planned for this year are the construction of a new runway, renovation of the area where aircraft are parked, as well as the expansion of the passenger terminal and the construction of a new cargo terminal.
Kraków Airport is the second largest in Poland in terms of the number of passengers serviced, and the biggest airport in the region. Last year it had 112 connections to 27 countries on four continents.
The future looks bright for most of the airports in Poland as they have noted an 15 percent increase in passenger number last year. In 2018 they have served 46 million people in total.
