Polish basketball player Marcin Gortat was waived by his club Los Angeles Clippers and now he is looking for a new employer.
“We will miss the toughness Marcin brought to the group,” said Lawrence Frank, the LA Clippers President of Basketball Operations. “He was a tenacious defender and screen-setter, and we are grateful to have been a part of his long and distinguished career,” Mr Frank was quoted in the club’s statement.
For the 48 hours, Gortat can be hired by any NBA club, but with his current contract amounting to around USD 13.6 mln for season 2018/2019.

After this period, Gortat will be a free agent, which means that he will be able to negotiate new contracts, most likely with a lower salary than in the current one.
There are many speculations about the next club of the Polish player. It is possible that he will join Golden State Warriors, the defender of the NBA champion title.
Gortat is averaging 5.0 points and 5.6 rebounds this season. He joined LA Clippers at the beginning of the current season, after leaving Washington Wizards.
Currently, he is the only Polish player in the NBA.
