Michał Burczyński won the competition, Jarosław Radzki was the runner-up and Tomasz Zakrzewski came up with the bronze medal. Moreover, Robert Graczyk finished the contest in the fifth place.

Two other Polish sailors also took part in the competition. Jerzy Sukow was 28th and Adam Szczęsny finished in 32nd place.

Seven Polish participants went to the US, but Łukasz Zakrzewski and Dariusz Kardaś were unable to take part in the competition. Why? Due to the plane malfunction and trouble at the airport in Paris, Polish team arrived in the US without their equipment.

Fortunately, Polish sailors received help from their competitors. They borrowed the equipment from the American team and were able to take part in the championships.

Burczyński is the world champion for the third time. Previously he won in 2006 in Sweden and in 2010 in Austria. Three times he was a silver medallist (2011, 2014 and 2016) and also has four bronze medals (1999, 2002, 2015, 2017) on his account.
