After winning against Lucas Pouille 6:2, 3:6, 6:4 on Monday, Hubert Hurkacz advanced to the third round of the tennis ATP 1000 tournament in Indian Wells.
On Tuesday, in the Round of 32, Hurkacz will face Kei Nishikori, one of the best players in the world (seventh in the ATP ranking), whom he defeated earlier this year in Dubai.
The French player, seeded 28th in the world ranking, is a semi-finalist of the this year’s Australian Open tournament. The victory against Pouille was only the second triumph over the athlete from the world’s top 30 in the professional career of the 22-year-old Pole so far, but more importantly, he achieved both victories this year.
Also on Monday, Łukasz Kubot, teamed with the Brazilian Marcelo Melo, advanced to the quarterfinal of the doubles’ competition of the same tournament. They beat Taylor Fritz and Nick Kyrgios 6:4, 1:6, 10:8.
