No upcoming interest rate increase: central bank head

Adam Glapiński, head of the National Bank (NBP), said that interest rates will most likely remain unchanged until the end of his term in 2022.

Mr Glapiński was speaking during a banking forum in Warsaw. He indicated that "we have golden times in the (Polish) economy," something that in the future might be referred to as "the Polish economic miracle.” He said that the trend, in his opinion, would continue.

The NBP head stressed that rates are positive and stable as is the Polish currency.

However, he noted that the slowdown of the German economy, with which Poland is closely tied, may have a negative impact on the growth of the Polish economy.
