Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz announced on Thursday that Poland will back the UK's request to extend talks with the European Union about Brexit.
Mr Czaputowicz said on the public TV channel “TVP Info” that the so-called hard Brexit would be unfavourable for Polish citizens. The FM also stated that it would be the worst solution for both Great Britain and the entire EU.
Earlier on Thursday, the British parliament adopted a resolution that calls on the government to issue a request to the EU to postpone their withdrawal from the EU.
Mr Czaputowicz recalled that in the event of a no-deal Brexit, the rights of Poles in the UK would have to be guaranteed in bilateral agreements. In the wake of such a decision, the rights of Polish entrepreneurs could also change. He added that Poland wanted to cooperate with the UK even after Brexit, since London is an important element of the European economy and security.
