Joanna Łochowska won the gold medal at the weightlifting European Championships in the 55kg category, taking place in Batumi, Georgia.
The Polish athlete finished ahead of two Russians: Svetlana Ershova and Kristina Novitskaia. Łochowska, who lifted a total of 199 kg in snatch and clean & jerk, achieved a better result than her closest rivals by, respectively: one and nine kg.
It is the third European champion title for Łochowska, who won in the 53kg category at the two previous editions.
The event in Batumi started on Saturday and will last until April 13. The Polish national team comprises eight women and seven men.
