Iga Świątek defeated Kristyna Pliskova 2:0 (6:0, 6:1) in the semifinal of the WTA tournament in Lugano, on Saturday.
It took only 55 minutes for the winner of the junior Wimbledon from 2018 to win against her opponent, who is ten years older. Interestingly, in the quarter final, Świątek needed over two hours to beat Vera Lapko from Belarus.
Reaching the final in Switzerland is the best performance, so far, in Świątek’s senior career. She is now certain to play in the main ladder of the Roland Garros tournament, beginning on May 26.
In the final on Sunday, her rival will be the Slovenian Polona Hercog. She will also be classified at approximately 87th in the newest WTA ranking.
