PM Mateusz Morawiecki expressed his support after the Notre Dame cathedral was set ablaze on Monday afternoon.
“Notre Dame cathedral on fire is a terrible tragedy for the Church and for European history. It is a tragic moment for all Catholics, Christians, and lovers of great works of art which we will lose forever. Poland’s thoughts are with Paris and France,” the PM tweeted.
On Monday afternoon, a major fire engulfed one of France's iconic landmarks - the medieval Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. After a few hours, both its spire and roof collapsed. The cause of the tragedy is not yet clear, but French officials said that it could be linked to renovation work which was taking place in the building at that time.
