Marcin Nowak, a journalist for a public TVP Sport website sport.tvp.pl, in an interview with PolandIN discussed the recent performance of 17-year-old Polish tennis player Iga Świątek.
In July 2018, Iga Świątek became the fourth Polish Champion of Junior Wimbledon tournament, after Aleksandra Olsza in 1995 and sisters Agnieszka and Urszula Radwańska, who won in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
Recently, she made it to the final of WTA tournament in Lugano, Switzerland, where she lost to Slovenia’s Polona Hercog. It was the first senior WTA tournament final for Świątek. On the way to the final, she defeated much more experienced rivals.
“Mentally, she won. She now knows she can beat the best and higher ranked players, “ Mr Nowak said.
“I think it is a start of a great adventure for her and we will see how it goes in the next tournaments,” he added, pointing out that she will participate in French Open.
