Music festival featuring world famous musicians kicks off in Katowice

World famous music stars are getting together to grace the 5th edition of the Katowice Kultura Natura festival, which is being held in the southern Polish city on May 10-19.

The festival programme features internationally renowned artists including South Korean singer Youn Sun Nah, ranked among the ten best jazz vocalists of today, English mezzo-soprano Dame Sarah Connolly best known for her baroque and classical roles and Russian pianist Nikolai Lugansky.

One of the world’s most famous symphony orchestras, the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of the Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra, and Russian violinist Viktoria Mullova, considered one of the best violinists in the world, will perform during the final concert of the festival.

The main theme of the festival is: Woman. Divine Femininity, Feminine Divinity. From Metaphysics to Music.

The inaugural concert is dedicated to Joan of Arc, patron saint of France, who, according to the organisers, is one of the most important women in European culture and had been inspiring successive generations of artists for over 500 years.

As every year, the festival’s programme features the recitals of the world’s greatest pianists.
