Poland won against Israel 4:0 in the Monday game of the UEFA EURO 2020 qualifiers in Warsaw.
After victory against Northern Macedonia, achieved in a non-convincing style, Polish fans gathered at the National Stadium in Warsaw hoped for an improvement. However, Israel’s form seemed to be on the rise recently, they are currently ranked second in Group G.
The first half saw some progress compared to the previous match. A nice long-distance effort by Krychowiak was followed by a few minutes of effective pressure by the Polish side, but it was Eran Zahavi (the top goalscorer of the qualifiers) who had two good goal opportunities, denied by the Polish defenders.
Finally, in the 35th minute, a diagonal pass from Lewandowski reached Tomasz Kędziora, who passed it to Krzysztof Piątek, who found his way to the net. It was the third goal scored by the AC Milan striker in the EURO 2020 qualifiers. In the added time, Lewandowski’s shot from the free kick went over the bar, and the halftime score was 1:0.
In the 56th minute, the referee awarded the hosts a penalty kick, successfully converted into a goal by Lewandowski. Three minutes later, Kamil Grosicki put Poland in a three-goal lead, with significant help from the Israeli goalkeeper Ariel Harush.
After these two blows, Poland controlled the game, not letting the guests create any dangerous opportunities. In the 84th minute, Damian Kądzior scored his first goal in his international career. The result did not change, and Poland secured a comfortable 4:0 win.
After four matches, Poland leads Group G with the perfect score of 12 points. Israel is second, with seven points.
