Milan orders more Solaris buses

The Italian city of Milan has ordered 250 Urbino 12 electric buses from the Poland-based Solaris Bus & Coach company. The whole deal is worth around EUR 192 mln.

The first deliveries are scheduled for June 2020.

Urbino 12 electric is a flagship vehicle of the Poland-based bus producer. It is equipped with a 300 kWh battery, is air-conditioned and seats 37.

In 2017, the Urbino 12 electric was presented the “Bus of the Year” award – the most prestigious distinction in the business.

In Milan, the new buses will join 150 Solaris vehicles, which has been used by the city since 2014.

The manufacturer has already delivered over 40 electric battery buses to the Italian market. Apart from Milan, they were bought by the cities of Bergamo and Bolzano. Moreover, the latter will be provided with 12 hydrogen vehicles in 2021.

In late June, Solaris won a big tender for providing the German capital city of Berlin with 90 electric vehicles.

Solaris Bus & Coach is a leading European manufacturer of public transport vehicles. So far, the company has delivered nearly 17,000 vehicles to 17 countries. It employs over 2,300 people in Poland and nearly 300 employees in its foreign branches.
