The spokesman emphasised that Ms van der Leyen will meet the Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
According to Mr Müller, the talks will concern the new officials of the European Commission and programme issues.
“For us, it is important to get a decent position in the EC so that the Polish commissioner will play an important role in the EU, but it is also important how the Commission will be divided between the Member States,” the spokesman said.
He added that fields that are important for the government include economy, free market, energy, budget, as well as agriculture.
“It is important that the office concerning one of these fields is given to Poland,” Mr Müller said.
Ursula von der Leyen was elected as the new head of the European Commission on July 16. Poland will be the second country that she will visit after being elected to this position.
