The series will be based on the best-selling novels by the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The main hero of the story is Geralt, a mutated and trained monster killer, called a witcher, in the fantasy world.
The main character of the series will be played by Henry Cavill. The cast includes Freya Allan (who will play Ciri), Anya Chalotra (sorceress Yennefer), Anna Shaffer (sorceress Triss Merigold), Lars Mikkelsen (wizard Stregobor) and Polish young actor Maciej Musiał (Sir Lazlo). One of the executive producers is Tomasz Bagiński.

The story of “the Witcher” has already been depicted in a Polish movie and TV series, released in 2001, but it did not have good reviews.
