Highest skyscraper in the EU under construction in Warsaw

The Varso Tower will be the tallest building in the EU upon its completion, planned for 2021.

The complex will include three buildings, with the tallest one measuring 310 meters. This will make it the highest building in the European Union, slightly higher than the London Shard and more than 50 meters higher than the Frankfurt Commerzbank Tower. It will replace the Stalinist-era Palace of Culture and Science, measuring 237 meters, as the tallest building in Poland.

The tower will contain 53 floors, with an observation deck housed on the highest floor, at 230 meters. It will be accessible directly from the extensive underground passage network, centred around Warsaw central railway station. An 80 meter high spire will be installed at the top.

In addition to offices, a shopping gallery, a hotel and restaurants will be housed in the building.

The construction began in December 2016 and is expected to finish in 2021. Its cost is estimated at around EUR 500 million. The building is being developed by the HB Reavis company. The project has been drawn up by the Foster and Partners architectural design studio.
