With the Friday evening match in Gdańsk, the Polish team began its qualifications for the Olympic Games held in Tokyo next year.

In line with the expectations, the reigning world champions had hardly any difficulties in defeating the Tunisian team, wrapping up the match in just over 80 minutes. They won 25-15, 25-19, 25-19.

“It was not one of our best games, but it was a good one,” the coach Vital Heynen said. “We had some problems just in the first set.”

All of Poland’s 14 players featured on the court on Friday. While even Poland’s B team had no troubles in defeating Tunisia, the coach emphasised that France, Poland’s next opponents, will pose a much tougher challenge.

“I have used all our players but let’s not get ahead of ourselves in assessing the team. Tunisia is not France,” Vital Heynen said.

In the second game on Friday, France defeated Slovenia 3:0. Poland will face “Les Bleus” on Saturday afternoon.
