Warsaw University students finish third at int’l Mars rover contest

The University of Warsaw Rover Team came third at the Canadian International Rover Challenge 2019 – the competition of martian rovers – that took place on August 9 – 12 in Drumheller, Canada.

In the third edition of the event, students from Warsaw finished behind only two crews from the US – from Oregon and Washington universities.

Each of the 12 teams that qualified for the final was asked to complete five tasks, which included moving on rough terrain, surface sampling and repair. The rovers were evaluated based on, among other criteria, their construction and their operators’ skills.

The other Polish team of students from Wrocław University of Science and Technology finished fifth in the same competition.
