The ceremony, which drew numerous activists and well known sports stars, took place in the city's prestigious Hotel Francuski, where the Polish Olympic Committee was founded in 1919.

During the ceremony Polish Olympic Committee chairman Andrzej Krasnicki said the Olympic idea "remained unchanged despite changing circumstances”.

He stated that the committee plans to continue contributing to traditional Olympic values such as perfection, friendship, fair play and tolerance.
