Robert Lewandowski found himself among 30 players nominated for the 2019 Ballon d’Or award, presented annually by the prestigious French magazine France Football.
The whole list of names is not available yet, since the magazine’s profile on Twitter announces one nominated player at a time. However, it is certain that the captain of Poland's national team will return to the ranking, after he did not receive a nomination last year.
It will be the fourth Ballon d’Or nomination for Lewandowski, who claimed his highest place in the competition in 2015, finishing fourth.
This year, the striker of the German side Bayern Munich has scored the most club competition goals among all the players from the world’s top five leagues, comprising the best teams from England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France. Moreover, his five international goals and several assists helped Poland to qualify to the Euro 2020 tournament.
The final gala presenting the award will take place on December 2, in Paris.
