A total of 20,000 volunteers will take part in the seventeenth edition of this campaign, which is planned to take place in supermarkets, retail network shops and small local grocery shops.

Customers in the shops can put into baskets products that have long “best before” date and those that are easy to prepare.

“It can be rice, pasta, flour, but also sweets. Among those in need there are also children, who are eager to accept such gifts,” Bartłomiej Kulisz, the coordinator of food support programmes of Caritas said.

“Underprivileged families and Caritas facilities will be able to prepare meals from those products,” he added.

The Christmas food collection campaign will be conducted in more than 2,000 shops around Poland, including those of the largest retail networks such as Biedronka, Carrefour, Kaufland, Lidl, Lewiatan, Mila, Polomarket, Tesco and others.

The campaign can also be supported by sending SMS text message PACZKA to number 72052.
