Border guards, foresters save entrapped deer from icy calamity

A joint action between the Border Guards and the workers of the Hajnówka Forestry Service brought salvation to the buck that found itself stranded in the middle of the frozen lake.

On Friday morning, a Border Guard patrol spotted a deer struggling to keep its footing on the ice-covered lake near the Topiło village, Białowieża Forest region, eastern Poland.

After a two-hour-long drama, the services managed to help the frightened animal and set it free into the forest.
