F1: Robert Kubica joins Alfa Romeo Racing

Robert Kubica joined the Alfa Romeo Racing team, while the Polish leading petroleum company Orlen will be the lead sponsor of the team in the F1 2020 season.

Robert Kubica will fulfil the role of test and development driver. According to the Italian daily "La Repubblica", he will help in the development of the new racing simulator. The daily points out that Kubica would be well suited to the job, since he participated in a similar project at Mercedes before returning to F1.

In the 2019 season, Kubica drove for the worst-performing team, Williams. He earned them their only point, finishing 10th in the German GP.

The Orlen logo will be placed on the car and the racing suit of the team. In 2006-2009 the Alfa Romeo team functioned as BMW Sauber; then, the Kraków-born Pole became their racing driver.

Alfa Romeo’s track drivers for the new season will be Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi.
