Women’s Volleyball: Poland to miss 2020 Olympic Games

After suffering a late dramatic defeat, 2:3 against Turkey, the Polish women’s volleyball team will not compete at the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Both teams showed a lot of determination over the course of the game, and the sets many rapid turnovers in lead. In the fourth set, while leading 2:1 overall, Poland had five match balls, yet they failed to convert any of them into victory. Turkey won the war of nerves 33:31, and in the tie-break they sealed a heartbreaking 3:2 win.

Turkey is now set to face Germany in a game which will determine the participant of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

As a consequence, Poland will only be represented by the men’s volleyball team in Tokyo.
