Record number of passengers use Warsaw Chopin Airport in 2019

Between January and December, a total of 17.1 mln passengers used Warsaw’s main airport for international flights, while 1.76 mln people were passengers of domestic air transport.

One of the months with a significant increase in the number of those serviced was December, when 1.384 mln people used Warsaw Chopin Airport, which was 11.7 percent more than in the same period last year.

Nearly 60 percent of passengers were travelling inside the Schengen Zone, while around 40 percent were passengers on flights to and from non-Schengen countries.

The most popular carrier at Warsaw’s main airport in 2019 was the Polish national carrier, LOT. A total of 9.7 mln passengers chose to travel with the airline. LOT opened seven new regular connections from Warsaw, including three long-distance: to Miami, Delhi and Colombo.

Warsaw Chopin Airport offered 130 destinations in 2019. The most popular scheduled flights were to London, Paris and Kyiv, while the most favoured charter flights were to Antalya, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Burgas and Rhodes.
