Football: Lewandowski included in 2019 UEFA Team of the Year

In the international poll led by the European football administrative body UEFA in which over two million people voted, Robert Lewandowski was selected in the best team in Europe of 2019.

This is the first such distinction for Lewandowski, who netted 54 goals in all competitions throughout 2019. So far, he has been the only Pole to be selected in the annual Team of the Year, since its inception in 2001.

The official website of UEFA highlighted his other merits, such as being the second-highest scorer in the Champions League last season, as well as topping the goal scorer charts in the German Bundesliga and the German Cup.

The Bayern Munich striker was in esteemed company. Alongside him were five players from the Champions League winners Liverpool, two from Spanish champions FC Barcelona and Italian champions Juventus each, as well as one from the English champions Manchester City.
