Poland, Finland support Western Balkans’ EU accession: FM

Poland’s FM Jacek Czaputowicz is on a 2-day trip to Finland, where he will be speaking with the country’s president and FM on issues such as the EU enlargement, the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine.

“Finland is one of those countries that support the EU enlargement and accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia,” said the Polish FM.

During his stay in Finland, Mr Czaputowicz will meet with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö and Finnish FM Pekka Haavisto to discuss, besides the EU enlargement, the situation in war-torn Ukraine, Polish-Finnish-Russian relations and hybrid threats to Poland and Finland.

Other topics to be discussed include the situation in the Middle East and transatlantic relations.

But the Polish FM’s visit to Helsinki, Finland also has a symbolic value. It is on Thursday afternoon that Mr Czaputowicz will be taking part in the celebrations of the centenary of the establishment of Polish-Finnish diplomatic relations. Together with his Finnish counterpart, he will cut the red ribbon at an art exhibition. The official opening will be followed by a concert.
