Speed skating: Polish team wins bronze at World Championships

Polish team Andżelika Wójcik, Kaja Ziomek and Natalia Czerwonka won the bronze medal at the 2020 World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships in the team sprint competition. The event is held in Salt Lake City, the US.

The Poles lost to Dutch skaters, who won the gold medals, and to the Russians. The battle for the bronze was between the Polish team and the Chinese.

The success of the female team ended the streak of World Championships without a Polish medal.

The last time Polish skaters won medals in 2013, when the World Championships were organised in Sochi, Russia. The female team (Katarzyna Bachleda-Curuś, Natalia Czerwonka, Luiza Złotkowska) won the silver medal, while the men’s (Zbigniew Bródka, Konrad Niedźwiedzki, Jan Szymański) - bronze.
