People want reliable data about COVID-19: analyst

Michał Rogalski is a graphic designer but he recently gained recognition for a different reason. He analyses and compiles COVID-19 statistics which he then publishes on his Twitter account. In an interview with PolandIN he explains what made him start publishing data about the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

“I was always interested in all types of data, [varying] from financial to demographic,” he said.

His idea about publishing data about the pandemic came from the need to avoid the information chaos. “We have too many emotions in media coverage. People want clean, reliable data,” Mr Rogulski said.

He wrote on his Twitter account, “my activities have a civic character, as a form of objection against the current information chaos.”

In his opinion, “looking at pure numbers can be emotionally easier for people.”

He acknowledged that people appreciate his work. “They say that thanks to my work, they do not have to dig through thousands of articles,” Mr Rogalski said.
