The Polish Health Ministry has launched a special app that helps assess the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The virtual tool gives an initial evaluation of a person’s state of health and recommended further steps.
The “Check for COVID-19 Symptoms” system was based on the COVID-19 Risk Assessment tool developed by the company Infermedica, cooperating with the Ministry of Health.
According to the Ministry, the app was created in close cooperation with domestic and foreign specialists in the field of medicine in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.
By answering simple, interlinked questions, the user receives a prompt preliminary assessment of their condition and recommendations for further actions. The analysis tells the user how to react when disease symptoms appear, whether to report to the appropriate medical point or just follow the general sanitary rules.
“The app is not meant to replace a doctor's consultation and is merely a medical interview to be used for information purposes only,” the Ministry stated.
The app has a chatbot that answers the most frequently-asked questions.
The ministry's 'Check for COVID-19 Symptoms' tool is available at https://pacjent.gov.pl/ and is accessible on most popular Internet browsers, as well as on mobile devices.
