The Municipal Zoological Garden in Płock launched the ‘ZOO live’ project. Every day at 11 AM local time on the zoo's online social media channels, live coverage from various animal enclosures will be broadcast.
On Wednesday, the meerkats were in the spotlight. On Thursday there will be elephants, while on Friday - a small tapir. The broadcasts are due to last 30 minutes or so.
The project has already been warmly welcomed by people who place comments under the recorded ‘show’ with meerkats. Magdalena Kowalkowska from the Płock facility said that live broadcasts would also take place during the Easter period.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic the Municipal Zoological Garden in Płock was closed in mid March until further notice. Zoo authorities state that the animal care proceeds as usual nonetheless.
The facility was established in 1951 and is a home for over 7,600 animals of 574 species, including these very rare. In 2019, it was visited by over 251,000 people.
