Volunteers spring into action to keep Krakow’s homeless fed

Volunteers from the Krakow-based social organisation “zupa na plantach” (soup in the Plant gardens), have sprung into action to keep Krakow's homeless fed during the nationwide coronavirus lockdown. The volunteers say that the homeless are even more vulnerable than usual as they lack a permanent shelter where they could wait out the pandemic safely. In response, the volunteers have decided to open special points where the homeless can come and pick up food but the members of the organisation also travel to places where the homeless are known to congregate. They say that access to food has become a problem for the homeless as many of the canteens and daycare centres, where they normally get their daily meals, are now closed.
