One of the most prestigious events in the Polish film industry, the Gdynia Film Festival has been postponed to 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The 45th edition of the festival was scheduled to take place on September 14-19, 2020.
The decision to reschedule the event was taken unanimously. All the festival’s committee members voted in favour of accepting films which qualified for this year's edition to participate in 2021 as well.
The Gdynia Film Festival, until 2011 held under the name Polish Film Festival, is an annual event which has taken place every year since 1974, except for the 1982 - 1983 period when Poland was under martial law.
