COVID-19 cases in Poland exceed 20,000

Poland’s Health Ministry announced that 405 new COVID-19 infections have been confirmed on Thursday, bringing the country’s total to 20,143 positive diagnoses.

The ministry also reported 10 new fatalities. As a result, the current death toll from COVID-19 adds up to 972.

According to the ministry, the number of individuals hospitalised in Poland due to the coronavirus epidemic amounted to 2,330 on Thursday. A total of 77,461 people were quarantined and 19,729 were placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 8,452 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far.

As of Thursday morning, as many as 5,100,912 coronavirus cases, 329,896 deaths and 2,033,488 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 1,593,039. Russia comes second most with 317,544 cases and Brazil third with 293,357.
