COVID-19 cases in Poland rise to 20,619

Poland’s Health Ministry announced that 476 new COVID-19 infections have been confirmed on Friday, bringing the country’s total to 20,619 positive diagnoses.

The ministry also reported 10 new fatalities. As a result, the current death toll from COVID-19 adds up to 982.

According to the ministry, the number of individuals hospitalised in Poland due to the coronavirus epidemic amounted to 2,261 on Friday. A total of 77,768 people were quarantined and 19,500 were placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 8,731 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far.

As of Friday morning, as many as 5,208,836 coronavirus cases, 334,862 deaths and 2,092,603 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 1,621,196. Russia comes second most with 326,448 cases and Brazil third with 310,921.
