Poland's unemployment at 5.8 percent in April: stats office

Poland's unemployment rose to 5.8 percent in April 2020 from 5.4 percent in March, Statistics Poland (GUS) announced on Tuesday.

According to GUS, the number of unemployed people registered at job centres in March reached 965,800, up from 909,900 a month earlier.

The number of job offers placed with job agencies in April reached 58,200, down by 51 percent y/y and 25 percent m/m.

At the end of April, 341 enterprises declared that in the near future they planned to lay off 26,700 people, compared to 18,700 in March and to 15,700 in April 2019.
