Almost 300 election silence violations reported: police

The police have reported 278 incidents of violations during the election silence which came into force at midnight on Friday said Antoni Rzeczkowski representing Polish police headquarters.

A total ban on all forms of campaigning, the publication of opinion polls and promotion of candidates or political parties, including online activity, came into force at midnight on Friday and will last until the end of the official voting at 9:00 pm on Sunday.

Poles are voting in the second round of the presidential election.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic Poles are eligible to use procedures for postal voting, but most are expected to cast their vote at polling stations.

The second round takes place between incumbent Andrzej Duda from the conservative ruling party Law and Justice and Warsaw mayor Rafal Trzaskowski of the centrist Civic Coalition.
