Poland's organic food sales accelerate

Spending on organic products in Poland is growing at a fast pace despite the pandemic, the Rzeczpospolita daily wrote on Wednesday.

The latest study by the Nielsen market researcher, cited by the daily, shows that in the first half of this year Poland's organic food sector grew by 28 percent y/y.

In the first six months of 2019, Poland's organic food sales were 19.8 percent higher than in 2018.

According to the study, Poles spent a total of over PLN 700 million (EUR 158.5 mln) on organic food in the last 12 months, although the actual amount is even higher. The data does not include fresh fruits and vegetables sold by weight nor the whole internet trade, which is clearly on the rise.
