Polish striker Robert Lewandowski of FC Bayern Munich took the majority of votes for best player of 2020 in Germany. The vote was conducted by the renowned “Kicker” magazine, carried out among the members of the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS). The Pole received more than 50 percent of all votes.

Lewandowski, who received 276 votes outran his teammates Thomas Müller (54) and Joshua Kimmich (49). The fourth place in the vote was Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen, followed by Timo Werner, who moved this summer from RB Leipzig to Chelsea FC.
The Polish player is the first foreign winner of the award since 2015 when Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne played for VFL Wolfsburg.
Lewandowski said that he is very proud of the award. “More and more is expected from me and I try to exceed that every year. I was working hard for the results for me and my team, which performed outstandingly both at home and abroad,” he was quoted as saying by “Kicker.”
The Polish striker earnt winners medals in the German Bundesliga, the German Cup and the UEFA Championship. In each of these competitions he was the top goalscorer – in Bundesliga he scored 34 times, in the cup – six times and 15 times in the UEFA Champions League.
