Polish students win two golds at int’l programming competition

Polish students won two gold and two silver medals at the 27th Central European Olympiad in Informatics (CEOI 2020) which took place in Nagykanizsa, Hungary, announced the Ministry of Education on Tuesday.

A total of 14 teams from Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Hungary and Italy took part in the 27th edition of the event which took place on August 23-29. Each team consisted of 4 persons. Hungary, as the host country, was allowed to field two teams.

Tomasz Nowak, a graduate of Public High School No. 13 in Szczecin, in northwestern Poland, achieved the top result in the CEOI, winning the Central European Championship. A gold medal was also given to Marcin Martowicz, a graduate of the Aleksander Fredro High School in Wroclaw, in northwestern Poland, who achieved the second best result in the competition.

At the same time, silver medals were awarded to Jan Strzeszyński from the Stanislaw Staszic High School in Warsaw (5th place) and Adam Górkiewicz, a graduate of the Belgian Polonia High School in Wroclaw, who took 13th place.

Earlier this year, in July, Poles took home 5 medals (a gold, silver and three bronze medals) at the Baltic Olympiad in Informatics.
