Poland manager Jerzy Brzęczek made five changes in the starting line-up compared to the previous debacle against the Netherlands. In turn, Bosnia and Herzegovina benched the team’s top players: Edin Dzeko, Sead Kolasinac and Edin Visca. However, at the beginning of the match, the team struggled on the pitch just like it did on Friday.

In the 24th minute, the Turkish referee awarded the hosts a controversial penalty which was converted by Hajradinović. Until then, the Bosnian team had not created any real danger in the Polish penalty box.

The visitors replied in the 36th minute, when Kamil Glik’s header narrowly missed the post. Another good chance was wasted by Kamil Grosicki five minutes later, when he was unmarked a few metres from the Bosnian goal.

Within the last 15 minutes of the first half, Poland was the better side, pursuing the equaliser, and they made that happen in the 45th minute, when this time, Kamil Glik put the ball into the net with his head.

The visiting team gained an advantage after 50 minutes of play but were unable to make it count . Finally, in the 66th minute, Maciej Rybus delivered the ball to Grosicki who scored his 14th goal in the national team and put Poland in the lead.

Six minutes later, Bosnia came close to equalising but Koljić missed a clear chance from a few metres. The hosts were searching for a goal, but Poland kept their composure until the very end, winning the first match since the return of football and showing some improvement in their style.

In their third match in the Nations League, Poland will face Italy on October 11 at home.
