On Wednesday it was announced that the capital of the Wielkopolskie Province, Poznań, had been officially selected as the headquarters for the advanced command post of the 5th Corps of the US Army. Minister Błaszczak confirmed that the first soldiers from this unit will arrive in Poznań in October.

"This is a good decision for the security of Poland, as well as for the countries of NATO's eastern flank, because the command of the 5th Corps will secure not only the US soldiers stationed in Poland, but also the entire eastern flank of NATO", he said.

The minister also assessed that the decision on the 5th Corps headquarters had strengthened the Polish position in the international arena.

The US soldiers stationed in Poland will train together with Polish soldiers, participating in cyclical exercises. "These exercises will increase the abilities and skills of our soldiers", the Minister stated.

The agreement to strengthen the permanent presence of US troops in Poland signed on August 15 provides the possibility of further increasing the number of US troops stationed in Poland, and the establishment of a legal framework for the presence of US soldiers on Polish soil.
