Polish ombudsman infected with COVID-19

The Polish Ombudsman Adam Bodnar has been infected with the coronavirus, TVP.info portal reported. The information was confirmed by the Ombudsman’s (RPO) office.

According to TVP.info, an epidemiological investigation is underway at the ombudsman's Warsaw offices. The ombudsman declined to comment on this case.

The information about the positive result of Adam Bodnar's COVID-19 test reportedly came on Tuesday. "Everyone who had direct contact with him has been ordered to work remotely," TVP.info’s informant said. An epidemiological investigation is underway in the offices at Długa Street and Solidarności Avenue in Warsaw.

TVP.info confirmed the information about Adam Bodnar's infection with Anna Kabulska from the RPO office.

"The ombudsman had been in contact with an infected person. Immediately after receiving the message regarding that, he isolated himself and took a test, which result was positive. The ombudsman feels good, he is in quarantine," a short statement on the ombudsman's website reads.

September 9th saw the end of Adam Bodnar's 5-year term as ombudsman, however he still holds office, as the Parliament is yet to elect his successor. "I will certainly not go into politics," Mr. Bodnar declared in an interview, when asked about his further plans.
